Motion Seat Simulators: ACME True
Q™ Dynamic Motion Seats [ Patent Pending ]
The ACME True Q™ Dynamic Motion Seat (DMS) is
a cost effective method of providing motion cues or G-cueing to a pilot
or other vehicle operator. The dynamic seat adds inertial cues
experienced in the operational system. Motion cues enhance the immersion
experience of simulation, enabling better training and operator
experience. The value of motion is recognized and accepted in
commercial aviation, in fact the FAA requires motion in its
certified flight simulators. The military widely uses motion
across a spectrum of training systems, including helicopters,
fixed wing aircraft, trains, boats, and ground vehicles.
The
Dynamic Motion Seat delivers state-of-the-art performance providing
motion cues in five independent
axes of control giving you a full 6 DOF system. ACME’s Dynamic Motion
Seat is self-contained and can be mounted on existing simulator mounting
points, it contains a full set of safety features, and is designed
for maintainability, sustainability and a long life-cycle. The
DMS offers a low-cost, state-of-the-art solution to providing
motion realism to almost any kind of simulator.

Training Effectiveness with the ACME Dynamic Motion Seat
Cost-Effective Motion Cueing
The ACME True Q™ DMS is a cost effective method of providing motion cues to a pilot or other vehicle operator. The seat accurately simulates the inertial cues experienced in the operational equipment whether it be an aircraft or other platform. Motion cues are important because cueing allows for the operator to respond more realistically . The pilot first receives cues through the tactile and proprioceptive sensors, which precede the information received from the visual scene. In very stable platforms, the need for motion may be minimal. However, in dynamic platforms, prompt attention is necessary for the operator to maintain control and motion becomes more contributory to training. Researchers have drawn a distinction between disturbance cues ( system failures or external environmental effects ) and maneuver cues ( controlling the aircraft or other platform ). When there is discontinuity between the visual scene and what the operator is feeling on his/her body, the overall effects can be disturbing.
The Value of Motion
The value of motion has been recognized and accepted in commercial aviation where the FAA requires motion in flight simulators. Experience has shown that motion is training effective. The military is a user of motion systems in various flight simulators, especially helicopter training. The military's perspective is that motion cueing is appropriate for many simulators and is particularly effective where there are high onset cues, obstructions, and vehicle status changes.

Available True Q™ Dynamic Motion Seat Options:
ACME
can provide ancillary systems to expand the
base features for your seat solution.
- Actual seats, harnesses, pads and cushions
- Actuated harnesses
- Autotest Capability- Capability that performs a complete performance test on the seat. All axis are exercised to verify the displacement, velocity, and acceleration performance of the seat using sensors that are independent of the normal drive equipment. This test is used to verify the DMS meets or exceeds all required performance criteria and to establish a performance baseline. The baseline can then be compared throughout the life cycle of the DMS for certification and maintenance purposes.
- Articulated gauges and devices for procedural training
(ejection seat handles, oxygen bottle gauges, etc.)
- Vertical seat adjustments (powered versions as well)
- Forward and Aft movement of seat
- Can be customized for 1 to 6 channels
- ACME On-Site installation service
- ACME training and tuning sessions
- We can also build seats for Experimental and Developmental Projects
